Yes, this I know. 
It's akin to,  but not the same as,  the  English idiom,  "It's a jungle
out there." 


It's the combining of the words veteran and jungle (un veterano de la
jungla) as translation of the ambiguous phrase "Bush Vet" that has me
and my friends baffled. 

Are you claiming that the phrase "un veterano de la jungla" is  a common
Spanish idiomatic expression?
