She's a character in the novel. She doesn't read the book. She's 14
years old. She's a pretty typical kid, daughter of a single parent '60's
left-over. She is naive about some things, like why men would be giving
Zoyd phone numbers and money in the Log Jam, but at other times she
knows more than any 14 year old could. This sort of thing happens from
time to time in this novel, that is, characters shift into some sort of
TV role, playing the part perfectly even though they are completely
MISCAST. Like I-24's sales pitch to Zoyd. Come on, the guy is a
punker. Where did he get that sales pitch talk from? P likes to turn
things on their heads, twist them up. Like a Star Trek Episode, but all
the actors are black excepting one, the guy with the big orange bees
nest hairdo and the thingy in his ear. kinda stuff Saturday Night Live
would do. That's mostly what's going on here, shits and giggles.
