VLVL(4)(hh) Mojave Meteorites

someplace down in the Mojave..." (VL, Ch. 4, p. 47)
The Mojave is an arid region of southern California southeast of the
Sierra Nevada along the California/Arizona border. Once part of an
ancient inland sea, the desert was formed by volcanic action and by
materials deposited by the Colorado River. But meteorites there?
Probably so, as everything else seems to have a source in
reality. So here's a small sample of a meteorite that is found in the
Mojave Desert appropriately from Mars (which give the rocks with the
most number of delicious mysteries attached to them)

But seriously foax there appears to be an inordinate number of
meteorites available in Mojave, specifically Gold Basin. See here
