Home & Work

Frenesi is Home between Shifts. Home? What kinda home has she got?
Shifts? You mean to say that Sasha's daughter, UC Berkeley Film Student
... Revolutionary ... is working Shifts at a Mall? She's not working is
a Pizza Joint, is she? Hey, maybe Frenesi is a tragic figure. Home &
Work & Women? You know, when the Missions took one look at the Hawaiian
women they branded them the laziest women in the world. Imagine that.

Down the block, circular saw were braying metallically eee-yuh! eee-yuh!
(an allusion to BDSL & Pooh) among hammerfalls, truck engines, truck
stereos, not much of it registering now as Frenesi entertained images of
a nubile teen Prairie, looking something like herself ...

Of course P is doing his palimpsest best here as we turn back to page 3
and read about Prairie being between Shifts and Homes.

He groaned out of bed. Somewhere down the hill hammers and saws were
busy and country music was playing out of somebody's truck radio. Zoyd
was out of smokes.

And of course we recognize those hammers and saws from Chapter 26 of M&D
America.
