I've always had a soft spot for "Dear God," even though it *is* whiny -- the
singer's image of God is a bit adolescent, sort of like a divine Santa
Claus. Though I think Partridge emphasizes this a bit by using a child in
the song, which calls attention to its lack of theological sophistication.
Though musically, "Dear God" is an amazing piece of pop perfection. Like oh
so many XTC songs!
