You might also want to get hold of a better history book.

The concert at Altamont was in December of 1969; i.e., almost 1970.   The 
student strikes were in the spring of 1970; the shootings at Kent State, May, 
1970.

Further, I'm not sure by what measure the strikes were a failure.   In any 
case, they were arguably the most broadly organized student movement of the 
"sixties"; i.e., 1964-1972.
