Oh, but I HAVE tried, last time this list did a VLVL (when there was a lot 
more participation from the list).  In the end I decided that the book was a 
big disappointment.  It hasn’t the rich depth of GR, V, or MD.  Our very 
close reading at the time revealed very little in motives from the cartoon 
characters, why they do what they do, especially Frenesi, but including 
Takeshi and DL.  Larger themes present in GR, V, and MD seem absent here, 
and I don’t mean things such as “the 60’s” or “Abusive Government Forces 
wielded against the little man.”  I regard those as minor themes in his 
other works which support more universal one, which I’ll refrain from 
listing now.  In the end I’ve concluded that the book is underbaked.
