Pynchon as "recluse"

Whatever Hajdu may be doing, he's certainly not using
Pynchon-L to promulgate the myth of Pynchon as recluse
that Pynchon has rejected; jbor seems to be the one
working hardest in this forum to maintain that myth
these days.

I don't see why it's so difficult to jettison the
Pynchon as recluse myth and admit that Pynchon is a
complex, multi-faceted individual with a history that
includes being interviewed by some journalists as well
as avoiding other opportunities to be interviewed, a
Pynchon history that includes skepticism about mass
media journalism as well as a steady stream of
contributions by Pynchon to a major metropolitan daily
newspaper. Why not just let Pynchon be Pynchon?
