As opposed to the "episodes of consanguineous discombobulation" occurring in
the other games, I guess (324). The Octomaniacs, despite consisting of
"sleazoids" and "the occasional megacreep" who cheat and steal, and who play
the game in a "meanspirited ... atmosphere" (367), are still "more coherent"
than the rest of the Becker-Traverse mob (the implication being that the
others are even worse rather than that the Octomaniacs are in any way
pleasant or admirable).

I think Crazy Eights might also be called Black Bitch (referring to the
Queen of Spades).

I'm also wondering if the Bach title might have been chosen for its lowbrow
pun.
