Pynchon's impact

PM: [...]  Not that much impact [...]

Too negative, imo.  For many young writers, Pynchon is
the 800-pound gorilla in the living room.  More
broadly, his fiction makes possible a reception in the
US for  later fiction that's difficult to imagine
without Pynchon paving the way.  Surely the world is a
poorer place without Pynchon and his work.
