It's good of you to remind us that it is possible these are not real. As in Pynchon's work, ambiguity and paranoia are primary sensations, and perhaps in that the author mirrors a modern time.

If this list has one weakness, it would be resembling academia too much. A certain Polish-German philosopher summed up academics best as people fascinated by their own cleverness in discovering the incidental, missing the truth in front of them :)
