> I found White Noise boring.
I've taught _White Noise_ to honors seniors now for several years, and its
proven to be a major breakthrough novel for many kids who have wearied of an
academic life filled with Shakespeare, Dickens, etc. It's contemporary,
it's witty, it's accessible, and it offers an abundance of pop culture
insights and commentary that they can debate ad nauseum (their favorite
character each year is Heinreich, as you might imagine). An added plus is
that many college English courses apparently still use the book, so my
students gain familiarity with it while still in high school.
It may not be Pynchon, but it's *teachable* Pynchon.
