I always felt White Noise to be overrated--The Names,
I think, is his most relevant novel today ...>>

People have such varived responses to Delillo.  I
found The Names kind of a slog.

My favorite is Great Jones Street, although it's
usually written off as slight by Delillo fans.  I
liked the football one too, although I read it a long
time ago.  Running Dog, Players, Americana -- I read
all of them but have no strong memomry of any of them.
 Ratner's Star I couldn't finish.

I like the surface of his books, the rhythms of his
prose.  Beneath, I think there's often less than one
might anticipate.  If you compare him to Gaddis, which
is, I think, a more apt comparison than to Pynchon,
his work seems suddenly and immediately sligtht.
