Unsatisfied with the fragmented and indeterminate one may be tempted to
go back to the theater/theatre, walk down to the big screen and turn and
look into the projector box for the manager. And there, not up there,
but down here beneath a busted semen stained seat, the report of the
commission on obscenity and pornography (1970), shocking and anarchistic
recommendations difficult to comprehend.

I think it was Toynbee or was it Bettleheim who said,

A culture which postpones rather than stimulates sexual experience in
young adults is a culture most prone to progress.

AND

If a society does not taboo sex, children will grow up in relative
sexual freedom. But so far, history has spoken that such a society
cannot create culture or civilization; it remains primitive.

AND

The more sexually permissive a society becomes, the less creative energy
it exhibits and the slower its movement toward rationality,
philosophical speculation, and advanced civilization.

Now, Erikson studied the Yurok.

And Pynchon simply took a page out of GR and didn't make much out of it.

Weed never got the porno star role, that's why Prairie is not Weed.
