I suggest you read Bloom's book and what he has to say
about gnosticism before drawing such a conclusion, but
if your mind's already made up, so be it.  I know
quite a few Pynchon readers who have found it
interesting in its own right as well as appreciating
it for the light it sheds on Pynchon's work.
