Apparently different manufacturers can use different systems of
numbering the filters, so it might be important which manufacturer's
filters she was wearing. But an ND-2 filter is worth one f-stop
(reducing light to 1/2), an ND-4 filter worth two f-stops (reducing
light to 1/4). So perhaps her ND-1's are worth half an f-stop, which
would be cutting the light intensity to 3/4 of the actual value, which
isn't much really, making them ineffective as sunglasses per se.

Are there any opthalmologists in the room? Any real photographers?
Speak!
