VLVL 2 _Eros and Magic in the Renaissance_

My vitriolic spirit of late surprises even me.

I think it is because this past Valentine's day
was such a success: my wife rehabilititated me,
granting me to wear my wedding ring again, and
I, for my part, have resolved to stop trying to
see in her the Devil, Satan, Babylon the Great.

Hence I must turn my attention outward, say, to
exoteric Christianity, and modernity generally.

Slovoj Zizek seems such an ally, I've gotten an
eyeful of him on the web, and since Puppet and
Dwarf wasn't in the bookstore, got _On Belief_.

He desires some new communism to succeed, but I
hear rather, he'd like for anything to supplant
capitalism, that motor of diffuse oppression.

I know the feeling. The employer's business-wise
prediction and benchmark becomes the employee's
goad. Or, as my boss told me years ago of a test
I was working on: "You can't leave anything out;
and you can't lower quality; and you can't miss
the schedule;" (So just beat yourself harder.)

Yours truly,
Glenn Scheper
