If by "classic" you mean an old, collectible car
that's worth a lot of money maybe you don't know that
a "vintage car" can also be old and shabby. I used to
have a neighbor with a front yard full of "vintage"
cars and it took a couple of years for the landlord to
get him out of there so he could sell that pile of
junk to collect pennies on the dollar for back rent
owed by the evicted tenant.
And, maybe you don't know that, back in the day, CB
radios were cheap enough to be a fad , toys for bored
truck drivers and fixed-income retirees on the road,
hardly the sort of thing that only rich or otherwise
privileged people could buy and use (assuming they
wanted to join the hoi polloi in that activity in the
first place - see the movie "Citizens Band",
<http://members.lycos.co.uk/m1dzu/cbmovie.html>).
You're trying way too hard to retrofit Pynchon's text
into your ham-handed class critique, imo. It would
help, I think, if you knew a bit more about the things
upon which you pontificate, again imo.
