Pynchon doesn't actually say anything like that in
Vineland, does he?  I don't have my copy of the novel
with me, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong to
assume that, once again, jbor is writing something
into the text that Pynchon chose to leave out,
apparently to make Pynchon's text meet jbor's need to
try to "win" another argument here.
