Farce or not, I recall my wife's colleague (a cute gal) getting e-mail
harassments from some guy (anonymous account w/ Yahoo!, I think), and her
lawyer eventually contacted Yahoo! and, lo and behold, they traced the posts
and identified the user without a blink.

The harasser got fined $800 and had to pay court costs.

Anonymity ain't what it used to be, folks.
