VLVL2 Berkeley in the 1960s--a Danish Free Zone?

I contacted someone who spent his boyhood in Berkeley from, say, the late
Sixties through the late Seventies. He remembers "watching reruns of the
Dick Van Dyke show and hearing them talk about Danishes and wondering what
they were."

I also contacted someone who was a Berkeley student in, I believe, the late
1950s into the early 1960s. I asked him for his memories of Danish at that
time. He writes, "While I enjoy Danish pastry, I do not have recollections
of it in Tahoe or in Berkeley."
