Why does Frenesi want to procure energy? 

She's not saving any money. 

Frenesi, the young gaffer, like all the other members of the crew, is
Obsessed with LIGHT, she wants to liberate the Light from the fascist
monster with grid access devices she has fashioned in designs taught to
her by her father. He was obsessed with the Light too. It got him to
Turn. 

DL defends her girl friends Obsession as part of the business. But
Howie's objection is on the balance sheet black. It ain't cheaper to tap
into the Monster. And Sledge warns that the risk is too great and he's
the one that's got to risk his life getting them out of the jam. DL is
embarrassed, but she's backin her girl. The crazies (Sale's term for the
Pitz Sisters) say, Film equals sacrifice. Che Guevara nonsense.   

Frenesi's gnosticism, like Weissmann's, is attractive, but Light & 
White = DEATH.
