P's Simpsons Appearance

I'm sorry.  I have to admit I laughed out loud at quite a few of the
jokes but the fast food garnered only a chuckle.  I guess I'll never be
jaded enough to suit the old time Simpsons aficionados.

But the issue  I really want to raise is: what do all of you think the
vast majority of Simspons viewers thought of the scene?  Did they think
the "unknown comic" suddenly became an author.  Did they just let it wash
over them as one of those indecipherably bizarre moments that are
sometimes injected into a Simpsons episode?
