[pynchonoid]

I find plenty to respect in Pynchon's work (which is
consistently anti-fascist and deeply sympathetic with
the human condition) and in the public statements he
has made.  In his Playboy Japan interview Pynchon
questioned Bush's credibility very soon after 9-11, at
a time when many people were buying the Bush
Administration propaganda -- including more than a few
in this forum -- and were howling for blood and war;
Pynchon returned to this subject in his Intro to 1984.

more often seize the public 
podium that is his for the asking, rather than make
allusive statements in 
book forewards or talk to Japanese Playboy if, in
fact, he actually did.[...]
