I see; but you'll notice that you may like his first actorial 
exploits, I may prefer his Kurz, somebody else will prefer his Vito 
Corleone, not to mention his acting in Queimada or Ultimo tango a 
Parigi, etc. etc., but nobody will tell you "Brando's dead, so what? 
he was nothing special". As an actor he was like Welles, 
unfathomable.

(P.S. Pynchon honored Wells in GR, but did he ever mention Brando?)
