Howdy
The world needs more progressives with brass balls and brass knuckles.
That said, if Moore has any of his actual facts wrong James Baker would
have him hung by his heels in court for libel by now. So I think we can
accept his facts, so far as they go. What's at issue is his argument
*about* the facts. We are entitled to build our own arguments around
them, but don't think we are entitled to ignore them.
Bush ignores facts, which makes him functionally ignorant.
You can be clever and ignorant both; ruthless and ignorant; ignorant in
your certainties; you can have all of the information in the world at
your command, turning tricks for you, and be ignorant. Take your pick:
ignorant Bush or liar Bush. Or you can have both. But surely not
neither. I am entitled as a citizen to take a President at his word;
every word he says *in camera* is under oath, so far as I am concerned.
That's why I forced myself to give some credence at the time to the
falshoods he spread, and why I have been betrayed, as a citizen.
Rob: have you seen the film? Are you just trying to get my ulcer
bleeding again?
