It's more what Lupescu's doing to them. He's their confessor, he
listens to their stories. Hosts them, gives them drink and listens.
But he's quite tired of all that, that's why he goes away. Then you
have the matter of the Windigo. It's all a matter of information:
Siegel has the relevant bit of info, but he does not share it with
others. He selfishly uses it to save his own life. All in all I admit
that it's a strange plot, and I suspect there's something hidden
behind it. The Windigo, the great creature in the woods, foreshadows
the giant golem in M&D, btw. And then there are the rifles. With no
inverted star: but evil nonetheless.
