I am currently reading Jonathan Lethem's The Fortress of Solitude. So
far, quite good, and the theme of the Marvel superheros struck me
quite a lot--it seems that in 1973-6 I, Lethem's characters and
Lethem hisself were reading the same comics, they in NYC, I in
Pomezia. Full mysterious are the ways of the Lord. Anyway, it ain't
pynchon, and Lethem seems to be more influenced by Don than Tom. Yet
there are some aspects of the book which might connect it to
Vineland, that has been recently group-read here. I don't know if
group reading of non-Pynchon authors are accepted here.

Unless we get a big surprise and Pynchon's next is published in a few
weeks time... but this is more unlikely than Berlusconi getting the
Nobel Prize for Peace.

Rumors have it that he's working on a new novel, but I suspect that
when it will be ready we'll know well before... my bet is that it
will come out during the next Transit.
