I'd like to recommend David Mitchell's "Number 9 Dream" to all of you
looking for a book to read this summer. Both this book and his first
novel "Ghostwritten" are clearly influenced by Pynchon's body of work and
well worth your time.

The main character of Number 9 Dream is fascinating anti-hero, fully
fleshed out.

And reading this book will get you ready for Mitchell's new book, due out
in October: "Cloud Atlas." A friend who read the already published
British edition assures me that this book will blow a lot of minds and I
read elsewhere that it is an early favorite for this year's Booker award.

Toby
