Thanks to those who answered my question, pynchonoid, Terrance, Elvisco,
umberto, Glenn, as well as those who didn't, they also serve who only sit
and vegetate. Your comments are like gristle to chew on. Myself, I've always
figured, with umberto, that gravity's rainbow is the rocket's parabola, but
I also imagine that Pynchon had additional levels of meaning in mind too.
