>Part of a trilogy (which includes "Shockwave Rider" and "Stand on
>Zanzibar"), Brunner's "The Sheep Look Up"

The "trilogy" was more like three unconnected distopian novels published
between 1968 and 72, and The Jagged Orbit, not the Shockwave Rider, was the
third.

Stand on Zanzibar - overpopulation
The Jagged Orbit - military/corporate shenanigans
The Sheep Look Up - ecodisasters

The Shockwave Rider (1975) would make it a tetralogy and covered total
governmental/corporate surveillance/control of the population and hackers
fighting back.

Like James I really enjoyed Brunner as a teenager - he was one of the few
UK science fiction writers who was on par with the US writers of the time.
