You're saying that without a theory "evidence" is meaningless?

Evidence, or "evidence", for the theoryless, would be even a suggestion that 
Kubrick had some connection with Pynchon, that GR was on his bookshelf, for 
instance; or as might be understood in the general rules of scholarly research.  
In the absence of that, to insist that the words "Glen Cove" on a sign is 
conclusively or even probably--"A respectful nod to a brother in truth, yes, 
that's what the filmed Glen Cove street-sign probably is "--is baseless and 
absurd. 

I should say that, at the beginning of this thread, I thought I was teasing 
your over-enthusiasm.  It didn't occur to me that you'd actually defend this 
silliness.
