Don't you know? C'mon, gimme a break! You're on the Pynchon list!
Really, you don't know that all the Young Writers who are Trying Hard
to Write the Great American Novel are shamelessly pynchoning? You
have many who are producing a Pynchon Lite to be catered to readers
all around the world. And some of them honestly admit they are heirs
to Mr Pynchon (Richard Powers, just to name names, though he is not a
poet of unreliability like TRP).

I could mention just a few who are trying to get out of Pynchon's
immense shadow. Maybe William T. Vollmann, who is one of the few
really original figures around.

There are also Pynchonic writers here in the Bel Paese. Forget about
Pincio, the only one who can stand comparison is Michele Mari;
unfortunately his best novel so far hasn't been translated yet.

Anyway, who is not carvering is pynchoning. It means more or less 1/2
of American fiction today comes from our beloved untrustworthy
remembrancer.

And remember: scoffing fashion might be another way to be
fashionable.
