OT: books history and politics

I mentioned earlier that I'm reading Mountains Beyond Mountains   about Paul Farmer, a physician, Harvard professor, anthropologist, writer who works in Haiti. I found an  article by him( http://www.lrb.co.uk/v26/n08/farm01_.html  ) concerning recent events in Haiti  which includes an excellent synopsis  of  Haitian history/politics with some lesser known facts. Farmer works half the year in Haiti, speaks fluent Creole, has known Aristide since before  he was !st elected, and has written a book on Haiti's history.
