Stephenson is a programmer and his novels seem to take a while to "boot up". Maybe it helped to read
it on a computer screen rather than off of pages but I doubt it. QS took me three weeks to get
through that way and Cryptonomicon, which off of a dead tree, took me four days. So I guess books
are easier on the eyes.

I'm technically also reading A Suitable Boy but I haven't picked it up for a while.
