I recently picked up Watt, and put it down after about a week.  I'd read the 
"trilogy" previously, which I *loved*, but Watt seems like a preliminary 
(and somewhat tedious) stab at the same "subject" matter.  I'd advise anyone 
to go straight to the trilogy and skip the rest (but I'll probably pick up 
Watt again).
