I'd still like to see an edition of GR illustrated
with Smith's drawings, and will create one myself, for
my own personal use, one of these days (so many
projects, so little time...), if a commercial
publisher doesn't. I wouldn't rule out that
possibility -- my understanding is that Zak Smith had
some sort of exchange with Pynchon and/or his agent; I
don't know the actual content of that exchange, but
apparently it left Smith feeling comfortable that he
could exhibit his worth without legal interference
from Pynchon.
