De Lillo

I know, when DeLillo's parens or grandparents arrived in Ellis Island
the usual white anglosaxon clerk (this is a wild guess, probably the
clerk was: a. Polish Jewish, b. Armenian, c. Irish) misspelt the
surname and the Italian De Lillo became the Italian-American DeLillo,
which always annoys my Italian eye, so why couldn't I restore its
original spelling? But this is just a detail. What is interesting is
that I am discovering a great novel, full of carefully camouflaged
Pynchonic manterials and also of a lot of JGB, just to name non-US
postmodern writers...
It's a shame, I am reading White Noise at 44; what was I doing
before?
