I'm sounding off a bit late on this one, but I worked backwards from GR.
I suffer from a total absence of formal education, so I had to go back
and get Goethe and Rilke and a german-english dictionary. I know Eliot
was mentioned...maybe some plisters would do well to revisit:
"I decided that if the shaking of her breasts could be
stopped, some of the fragments of the afternoon might
be collected, and I concentrated my attention with
careful subtlety to this end."
And any good submarine stealing anarchist would do well to read Borges.
"El laberinto de to incertidumbre/ Me trama con la disquietante luna..."
I just read Farina's 'Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me' for the
first time. I'm glad I read it at age 28 instead of age 18. It might
have otherwise triggered a drug induced sex marathon with long term
consequences on par with Gnossos'. But I thought it was sad and sweet
and to the point.

Thanks everybody for all your suggestions... I'll
probably be working my way slowly through all of them,
maybe The Crying of Lot 49 first? mmm, if there's any
more suggestions, I'd love to hear them... especially
if they have anything to do with my breasts. Thanks
again! Melinda
