i mean, riding the subway to work in the morning, looking at stupid 
fish-eyed hipster chicks, what do you want to be reading?  chabon?  you 
might as well just wear sweatpants to work, you might as well just give up.  
but houellebecq....that's the shit:  soothing french misanthropy in the 
grand style.  you'll see right through the bitches.  your friends will look 
at you differently, your wife will be compliant and respectful, she'll start 
to flinch when you reach for the ketchup....
