Repetition (...), first new, er, new novel in twenty
years from him--recently translated here ...

And of course he didn't "anticipate" much of anything,
he rather (with all due respect to Petronius and/or de
Rojas, who might not even have written "his" entire
proto-novel) more or less opened up the whole damn
field of possibilities in/from which le nouveau roman
et al. emerged.  "Cervantes and His Postcursors" ...
