He's an Italian writer and--what a small world it is!--an 
acquaintance of mine. He gave me a copy of M., then I bought Lo 
spazio sfinito (The exhausted Space might be a a good rendering). He 
took part to the 1998 Pynchon conference in Rome with me and other 
Italian Pynchon fanatics (but there were also stars like Luc Herman 
and Hanjo Beressem there). Lo and behold, his name comes up here and 
his last novel has been translated! Haven't read it (besides, 
couldn't finish even his shorter Spazio sfinito), but comments were 
not positive. I'll add that I hate to talk about books I havent read 
completely, so I won't add other comments on his fiction. As far as I 
can say, Tommaso P. is one who knows his Pynchon. The paper he 
presented at the conference was quite good.
