Those who pay for it. Whoever they are. Whatever it is. Once you have 
big money behind your goods you can afford big advertisting. What did 
the tv talk about tonite (here)? Troy. Brad Pitt ludicrously 
disguised as Achilles. A film that definitely smells of crap. Why? 
Because the producers paid for it. US film industry has the big money 
and can afford the big ads. People see that and buy. I guess the 
mechanism is quite easy to grasp, isn't it? The same may be said for 
other US cultural products. But we might get far from Pynchon and 
near Berlusconi, and I prefer Pynchon.
