Can I meditate a bit? Vineland has the part about the Thanatoids
which has some connection with the Inferno, and Brock Vond's final
descent has a somewhat Dantean taste. But it is easier to compare
Pynchon's works with Michele Mari's last effort, Tutto il ferro della
Tour Eiffel. I think Mari doesn't even know that Pynchon exists
(maybe I'm exaggerating, but he's an expert of 18th-century Italian
literature, so we talk about a totally different league), but he got
very close to Gravity and V. I'll expand this.
