I'm surprised to see M badmouth baseball, a beautiful
game given a loving and hilarious tribute by M's
darling Philip Roth in his _Great American Novel_. 

I've heard Pynchon was a Dodgers fan in his youth. If
that's true, his choice of the Dodgers over the
Yankees might say something significant, but I don't
know much about team loyalties in the New York region
and what factors might drive a person to support one
or another team.

Anybody have a grip on baseball references in P's
writing?
