So not a frame, though frame has several meanings in English... I
guess frame is a viable equivalent of Gestell when one means
"Something composed of parts fitted and joined together" or "A
structure that gives shape or support: the frame of a house", but
this meaning might be a bit misleading: "An open structure or rim for
encasing, holding, or bordering: a window frame; the frame of a
mirror" and that is the meaning of frame which would authorise the
application of "enframing" to the Tube, as if the tv-set were a frame
surrounding pictures which might more or less directly refer to some
reality. H. would probably tell you that in a technical age like this
reality itself, whatever it is, this modality of being, is in itself
captured in the disposition (Gestell) of sciences and "technique" (I
know the term usually has a different menaning in English, but I'd
like to keep far from technology). "Technique" is in its structure,
the way its parts fit and join together, it isn't just a rim for
encasing, holding, or bordering...
