The tragic thing about Zappa is that he never managed to get
beyond irony. So he was very good when it came to make jokes
about monster movies from the 1950s (though, personally he was
not really blessed with humor: in the early 80s Zappa stopped his
concert in Kiel after 40 minutes because somebody had thrown a
bloody tampax on the stage ...), yet did he actually unfold a
substancial work of his own? Got my doubts about that. It's no
wonder that Zappa, late in life when Freund Hein had already
appeared at the horizon, wanted to convert to classical music. But
that pompous "Yellow Shark" orchestra piece is just too silly -
