Of further, not totally relevant, interest re Musil is
that he was often in his lifetime compared to and
placed with his contemporary Hermann Broch.  Musil
loathed Broch--his writing, anyway--and was forever
resentful of the comparison.

Elias Canetti was friends with each and writes about
the delicacy of his position in his memoirs (all
something I may have had reason to post here before).

I personally think the Pee Wee Herman/Musil reference
has no significance beyond the high/low joke of juxtaposition.
