VLVL "happy ending"?

su Re: VLVL "happy ending"?:

A kind? At the end of the fair Brock Vond is sent to hell, period. Is 
that a way to express sympathy? Had Pynchon sent both Brock and Zoyd 
there, I might understand. But then, I realize that I should read 
again all the ending of Vineland before saying anything. Anyway, the 
issue of the happy end, silly as it might seem, looks like a question 
that may teach us something about this novel.
