"Sorry. No such evidence there."

There's plenty of evidence of Pynchon's empathy with jazz, folk and rock musicians, and numerous sections in both his fiction and non-fiction that show his disdain for the high brow culture of either Beethoven or TS Eliot. It's really too obvious to even bother pointing out. The Spike Jones' essay reveals that Pynchon's sympathy is much more with Jones ( who was a trained percussionist parodying trad. classical music and film scores) than it was with Stravinsky (who Jones was cracking jokes about) , and there are references to many blues and rock musicians in both GR and Vineland (even some Dylan lyrics here and there); plus McClintock Sphere in V, the Paranoids in COL49. I suspect there are stravinsky or rossini CDs in TP's household, but next to them are, I'll wager, CDs by Coltrane, Hendrix and prolly a few Zappa, ...dylan....even the Grateful Dead

but who cares? you're too lame to understand the musical context...put on your Wolfgang Amananus Mozfart's Einie Kleine Schmutzmuzak and jag--off to your TS Eliot fantasies...yr the Hyacinth girl Cyrus!......

and word to PynchonRoid: how much for a car date with the ho that rooms with you? tip for the kicker...ya know....nudgie nudgie
